William "Bill" McCahill, Jr.
Bill joined Robinhill after a wide-ranging 25-year career in the American diplomatic service and a subsequent second career in private sector business advisory in China.
A Senior Foreign Service officer, Bill completed his diplomatic career as acting Chief of Mission in the American Embassy in Beijing. Upon retiring from the Foreign Service in 2000, Bill remained in China through 2015, working in Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou and Hong Kong. During this period, he co-founded and managed a China-focused equities and macro-economic research firm advising institutional investors in China. He grew the firm to 85-person research staff members to support major asset managers in North America, Europe and Asia.
He received his BA in English from Boston College and PhD in Asian Studies from Harvard University. Bill serves on corporate boards in both the US and abroad. He is fluent in Mandarin and French.
